CAHRC research supports women in agriculture
April 7, 2015
The Canadian Agricultural HR Council is looking forward to bringing together women and stakeholders within the agriculture community to develop and implement a strategic program to support improved access to leadership opportunities and strengthen business success for women working in agriculture. Through multiple research points as well as engaging and learning from the agriculture community the results are expected to be programs and resources such as a Supporting Women in Agricultural Leadership Program that offers online resources, the creation of a Women in Agriculture professional network, and a suite of instructive reference materials for Boards and training institutions to improve the accessibility of opportunities for women.

Success Leads to Paying It Forward
October 9, 2014
The launch of the first Advancing Women Conference in 2014 brought to light many successes and accomplishments among women within the ag industry. With the overwhelming success of this event, Iris Meck, AWC conference organizer and owner IMCI, is proud to be able to pay it forward and invest in future leaders by sponsoring and funding great opportunities for women in ag. “At the conference in April, so many young women told me that the experience had changed the way they thought about their future,” says Meck. “We are now supporting the dreams of these women and making them reality.”

Iris Meck Communications Inc. is honoured to have sponsored two students from South Africa, Dr. Zodwa Mbambo, Post Doc at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and Ms. Henriette Hobbs, PhD Candidate at the University of Cape Town, to attend the Agricultural Biotechnology International Conference (ABIC) 2014 in Saskatoon.

Another highlight for Meck and her team was sponsoring two students selected from the University of Lethbridge, Phyllis MacCallum and Monica Gorham, to attend the 24th Annual Agribusiness and Food World Forum. Phyllis and Monica also participated in the International Student Case Competition where they ranked exceptionally well. Upon their return, they are now planning for next year’s conference with a full team from U of L. “It is life changing experiences like these that make our work with AWC so rewarding,” says Meck.

Recently, the Alberta Beef Magazine featured strong and capable women in the ag industry in their August 2014 Women in Ag issue, and Meck is proud to sponsor these leaders to attend AWC 2015 Calgary. Advancing Women in Agriculture on YouTube!
It’s a great way to meet the women who face the same challenges as you at big ag shows. It’s great to have a woman’s view on everything.
